Vermilion Bay

The Municipality of Machin is made up of 3 communities all located on the beautiful Eagle Lake. Eagle River, Minnitaki, and Vermilion Bay are all located in the heart of Sunset Country on the Trans Canada Highway. The town is located at the start of Highway 105, which leads to Ear Falls and Red Lake. The population is roughly 1200 people. VISITOR INFORMATION CENTRE HOURS:
The Visitor Information Centre can be found as soon as you enter the Municipality of Machin office building for your convenience. Helpful brochures as well as maps are available.

Summer hours of operation: 8:00am � 4:00pm

SPECIAL ATTRACTIONS OR �MUST-SEES� IN YOUR COMMUNITY:
One �must-see� in the community would be the log fort that will be easily noticed while driving along the main highway, a replica called �Fort Vermillion�. You can�t miss it, and inside is a gift shop and a play ground for the kids. Admission is free.

PICNIC AREAS OR PARKS WITHIN THE COMMUNITY:
Blue Lake Provincial Park provides camping grounds, hiking trails, a beautiful sandy beach and a store where munchies and snacks can be found. The Blue Lake Park i off Highway 647. The Park, with 196 camping sites, is sandwiched between two lakes, Blue and Langton. Between the two bodies of water is an easy four-kilometre walk along the Rock Point hiking trail, the longest of three marked paths. Blue Lake is 27 metres deep in spots and the water is so clear you can see the bottom at a depth of six metres.
